Junior Structural Engineer

Company provides quality structural engineering services for commercial building throughout the county. We offer diverse engineering services for public and private sector projects with quality experience in the design of airports, office buildings, educational facilities, stadiums, museums, parking structures, retail facilities and hotels.

Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge and experience in the design, construction and maintenance of buildings and structures as they relate to present-day building code requirements for reinforced concrete, steel, masonry, wood and other building materials.
  • Development of construction documents including drawings and specifications
  • Construction administration including shop drawing review and responding to construction questions
  • Applies standard practices and techniques in specific situations, adjusts and correlates data, recognizes discrepancies in results, and follows operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes.
  • Specifically individual may assist in the preparation of reports, drawings and specifications; the preparation of cost estimates; assist in field data collection; shop drawing review; and calculations.
  • Using prescribed methods, performs specific and limited portions of broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
  • Knowledge and skill in using a variety of computer programs and technology used in solving engineering problems or issues related to project.
  • Ability to occasionally travel to jobsites in order to meet with clients and take field measurements with short term stay is required.
  • Site visits will occasionally require accessing elevated platforms and the use of fall protection equipment.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree; Civil/Structural Engineering required
  • Master’s Degree – Civil/Structural Engineering is a plus
  • 1 – 3 years of Revit and/or BIM (Building Information Modeling)
  • 1 – 3 years of relevant project design and structural engineering experience
  • Passing Fundamentals of Engineering exam required
  • RISA 3D, SAP, or RAM Structural System experience preferred

Senior Structural Engineer

Responsibilities: 

  • Manage assigned projects by providing direct supervision, mentoring, and overall leadership of a design team
  • Develop project scope, schedule and budget estimates
  • Identify resources needed and effectively delegate staff duties and responsibilities
  • Demonstrate ability to utilize accounting and scheduling software for project management
  • Create and execute project work plans
  • Analyze accounting reports and project schedule for variances
  • Monitor work for adherence to project scope and identify out of scope actions
  • Resolve scope, schedule and budget discrepancies internally and with our client
  • Prepare and submit appropriate project reports
  • Participate in contract negotiations
  • Establish client contact and maintain positive relationships
  • Serve as primary interface between client and staff for a given project
  • Coordinate, monitor and review work performed by sub‐consultants
  • Practice good time management skills, demonstrating ability to work efficiently within time constraints while dealing with numerous concurrent  activities
  • Networking, including active participation in and leadership of professional organizations
  • Demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills to interface effectively with internal staff, clients, contractors, agencies and the public

 

 

   Job Competencies:

  • Project Design: 3 – 5 years
  • Structural Engineering: 3 – 5 years
  • AutoCAD and Revit: 3 – 5 years
  • RISA 3D, SAP, or RAM Structural System: 3 -5

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree; Civil/Structural Engineering required
  • Master’s Degree – Civil/Structural Engineering is a plus
  • 5 – 7 years of Revit and/or BIM (Building Information Modeling)
  • 5 – 7 years of relevant project design experience
  • 5 – 7 years of structural engineering experience; strong understanding for core structural engineering concepts
  • Experienced in managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong leadership skills – ability to manage and build teams effectively
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Highly organized, detail-driven and conscientious
  • Is attuned to other areas as it relates to total project: structural, mechanical, electrical, architectural and site requirements
  • Passing Fundamentals of Engineering exam required
  • AutoCAD and Revit Structural experience preferred
  • RISA 3D, SAP, or RAM Structural System experience preferred
  • Ability to work in a dynamic team setting with overtime as required

Some weekend and overtime work and/or overnight work and travel may be required. This role is combined with 80% office work and 20% field work.

Physical Requirements: These physical demands are representative of what a Structural Engineer may encounter in the field and are essential functions of this position. You will be involved with occasional field work on outside construction sites. This may require long term standing, lifting/moving equipment up to 20 lbs, and movement through tight or small spaces, the use of touch, sight, smell and hearing to assess your environment.
